Technical Forums

IPWEA NSW & ACT hosts a range of technical forums, these forums target a specific component of public works engineering and infrastructure. Most forums are held once every two years.

Development Engineering Forum
The Development Engineering Forum is a biennial event. It is NSW’s leading forum for streamlining engineering processes within the public works and local government engineering industry. The Forum provides an exceptional platform to shape the future of the ever-growing development engineering industry with a focus on sustainability, innovation, and development. The two-day event will cover a multitude of topics including; resilient infrastructure, circular economy, urban heat island, climate change, planning, subdivisions, utilities and underground assets, new developments, Australia rainfall and runoff (ARR), and asset management.
The next forum is scheduled for mid-2026.
Disaster Recovery Forum
The Disaster Recovery Forum is held biennially. The first forum was held in November 2025 and was a key event for public works and local government professionals involved in disaster recovery, resilience planning, and emergency management. The one-day forum brought together councils, government agencies, and industry leaders to collaborate on strengthening disaster preparedness, response, and recovery efforts.
The next forum is scheduled for mid-2027.
