IPWEA NSW has divided the State of NSW into twelve regions based around groupings of Councils. They are:

The Regional Groups meet on a regular basis, three - four times a year, to discuss a wide range of technical issues such as environmental management; construction; water and sewerage; road maintenance; road safety and professional development. Meetings can include a site tour, guest speaker or social activity. In addition, special meetings may be called for the AGM or other special events such as seminars, working parties, etc.

The groups are important avenues for distributing information to IPWEA NSW members and for members to interact with and provide feedback to the institute, other Regional Groups and members. They are also important for establishing policy for IPWEA NSW and sourcing information for advice to Government Departments and the Community. Members are encourage to attend Group Meetings and contribute and participate in IPWEA NSW publications, conferences and awards.
